How to Clear Browser Cache: A Step-by-Step Guide

We encourage our clients to clear their browser cache as an essential practice during the website review process.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to clear the cache in some popular browsers:

Google Chrome:

  1. Open Chrome and click on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner (Customize and Control).
  2. Select either: “History” -OR- “More tools” and then “Clear browsing data.”
  3. In the pop-up window, choose a time range or select “All time” to clear all cached data.
  4. Check the box next to “Cached images and files.”
  5. Click “Clear data” to complete the process.

Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox and click on the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner.
  2. Select “Options” and go to the “Privacy & Security” tab.
  3. Scroll down to the “Cookies and Site Data” section.
  4. Click “Clear Data.”
  5. Check the box next to “Cached Web Content.”
  6. Click “Clear” to clear the cache.

Apple Safari:

  1. Open Safari and click on “Safari” in the top menu.
  2. Select “Preferences” and go to the “Privacy” tab.
  3. Click on “Manage Website Data.”
  4. In the pop-up window, select “Remove All” to clear all cached data.
  5. Click “Remove Now” to confirm.

Microsoft Edge:

  1. Open Edge and click on the three horizontal dots in the top-right corner.
  2. Select “Settings” and go to the “Privacy, search, and services” tab.
  3. Under “Clear browsing data,” click on “Choose what to clear.”
  4. Check the box next to “Cached data and files.”
  5. Click “Clear” to clear the cache.

Opera:

  1. Open Opera and click on the Opera icon in the top-left corner.
  2. Select “Settings” and go to the “Advanced” tab.
  3. In the left sidebar, click on “Privacy & security.”
  4. Scroll down to the “Clear browsing data” section.
  5. Choose a time range or select “All time.”
  6. Check the box next to “Cached images and files.”
  7. Click “Clear data” to clear the cache.
